Structure of the NPBR
The operation of the NPBR is overseen by a steering committee consisting of the funders of the NPBR (National Parks and Wildlife Service of the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht and the Environmental Protection Agency) and the secretariat (Biodiversity Research Ltd. and BEC Consultants Ltd)
The secretariat takes care of the day-to-day operation of the platform and its various activities.
Membership of the NPBR is open to stakeholders with an interest in biodiversity research in Ireland and in this context includes policy makers from Government Departments, state and semi state agencies and local authorities, academic researchers based in third level colleges and institutes of technology, consultants and NGOs.
Membership of the NPBR is periodically reviewed to facilitate additional membership requests.

Operation of the NPBR
The platform operates by addressing issues and key gaps in biodiversity research knowledge through a system of e-fora and workshops.
The results of these deliberations are published as a series of key documents from the platform and disseminated through this website.
